When you're starting out with Microsoft 365 Business (or Office 365) it might be a tough concept to grasp that now everything you have been working on can now be sitting in the cloud somewhere.

Or you may have just come back from a long needed holiday and have completely forgotten everything about your IT system and how to get into it.

The bottom line is, having your own Office 365 login is essential. There are a few different ways to login to Office 365, though my personal favourite is via Because that takes you to your Office 365 Portal and you can get to.

Where do you start your login to Microsoft 365 Business?

When Greendata sets up your business with Microsoft 365 Business you all get an Office 365 account to log into. How can i reformat an external hard drive.

Everyone in your business will have their own account and login details and this is your/their identity when working in the cloud.

So your first step in logging into your account is here, clicking on this link: https://login.microsoftonline.com

As the above image suggests it takes you to the login page where you will either see a nice photo with a box where you can enter in your email address.

Now, depending on what type of computer you have and how you have set up your login's this box maybe already pre-filled with your email address.

This is good and you just need to click on the email address and it will take you through to the password submit page.

If your email isn't sitting there waiting, you need to enter in your email associated with your Microsoft 365 Business account and then hit that next button to get through to the next phase of logging in.

After entering in your email you are taken through to the next step of logging into your Microsoft account.

Now you should know this off by heart or have it stored somewhere very safe so no one else can see it.

Having a long formidable password these days is essential to your business online security and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Again, depending on how your computer is setup this password entry box may have already been populated for you.

Another point to add here is that you (or your trusted IT support company Greendata might have) may have installed an extra layer of security protection at this point.

There is a process called 'Two Factor Verification' where you can either get sent a code to your phone to enter or you can also use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone too which generates a code to use here.

Now you're logged into Office 365

Once you have either entered in the correct password and also, if needed entered in the code for the Two Factor Verification, you will be logged into your Microsoft 365 Business account which looks like the image below.

See, it's quite easy!

From this area you can head off to your Outlook account to check your emails, into Microsoft Teams if you run your business projects through this app, use Excel, Word, OneNote or explore all of the other apps available with your Microsoft 365 Business account.

You can't sign in to Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft Intune. You might be trying to sign in by using a portal such as https://login.microsoftonline.com. Or, you might be trying to sign in by using a non-browser–based app, such as one of the following:

  • Office apps, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Office apps on mobile devices, such as Office Mobile, Teams, and Microsoft OneDrive for Business (formerly Microsoft SkyDrive Pro)
  • Azure Active Directory Sync
  • Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell
  • Dynamics CRM

Cause

The following conditions might cause this issue:

  • Your subscription has expired.
  • Your user account is not enabled.
  • You're locked out from your user account.
  • You tried to sign in with the wrong user name and password.
  • The password you tried to sign in with is temporary and expired. (This might happen if your user account is new or your password was recently reset.)
  • Your password has expired.
  • You're blocked from signing in.
  • If you're a federated user, single sign-on is not working.

How Do I Log Into My Office 365 Email

To resolve this issue, follow these steps.

Step 1: Sign in to the portal

  • If you're using Office 365 or CRM Online, go to https://portal.office.com.
  • If you're using Azure, go to https://manage.windowsazure.com/?whr=azure.com.
  • If you're using Intune, go to https://aka.ms/intuneportal.

Step 2: Use the solution that's appropriate for your sign-in experience

You can sign in to the portal

If you can sign in to the portal, but you can't sign in to a non-browser–based app, such as an Office app or an app on your mobile device to check email, follow these steps:

  1. Work with your admin to make sure that you have the correct licenses applied to your account.
  2. If you're enabled for multi-factor authentication, make sure that you have set up app passwords. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Manage your settings for two-step verification.
  3. If you use a mail app such as Outlook, and if you're a federated user, see Federated users can't connect to an Exchange Online mailbox.
  4. For more information about how to troubleshoot sign-in issues that use non-browser–based apps, see How to troubleshoot non-browser apps that can't sign in to Office 365, Azure, or Intune.

You can't sign in to the portal

If you can't sign in to the portal, use one of the solutions in the following table, as appropriate for your situation.

We don't recognize this user ID or password. Make sure you typed the user ID assigned to you by your organization. It usually looks like someone@example.com or someone@example.onmicrosoft.com. You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect user ID or password.After 10 unsuccessful sign-in attempts (wrong password), the user is locked out for one minute. You will have to enter a random set of letters and number as part of the sign-in process. 2. Update your password on all devices that connect to your account. 3. Reset your password.
It looks like your account has been blocked. You're asked to change your password.Your password may be temporary or your password has expired. If you're prompted, change your password.
